It seems as though kids today have so much more to deal with than I ever did growing up. Either that or I didn’t see everything that was going on around me. Kids have been bullied for years and in many different ways. Tools and resources are so important in stopping what seems to have become the accepted behavior.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about silos.  Not those big towers on farms where corn and grain are stored, but the silos we’ve built in the anti-violence movement.

I have spent the past week feeling inundated by negative news coverage. Granted I am all for staying informed, but to continue to watch and listen to all the horrible things going on, sometimes makes me feel helpless. I am, however, reminded that there are still good people in the world.

Many people devote their lives and careers to building better responses to sexual trauma.  Others, working on prevention, seek the kind of social change needed to eradicate this form of violence. Corn waiting to be harvested, cows munching quietly in the field, leaves rustling in the wind, the feel of a crisp autumn breeze, and a wide open country road. No, this is not the start of a melodramatic novel. It is however, more reasons for me to fall in love with fall and running this time of year.
