Halloween is just around the corner. I have to say that there is a lot that I love about this time of year. Crisp air, turning leaves, a squash cornucopia, and roasted pumpkin seeds are all delightful. Similarly delightful—people seem to put their thinking caps on for issues of gender inequity, social constructions, and oppression.

It seems as though kids today have so much more to deal with than I ever did growing up. Either that or I didn’t see everything that was going on around me. Kids have been bullied for years and in many different ways. Tools and resources are so important in stopping what seems to have become the accepted behavior.

I have spent the past week feeling inundated by negative news coverage. Granted I am all for staying informed, but to continue to watch and listen to all the horrible things going on, sometimes makes me feel helpless. I am, however, reminded that there are still good people in the world.
