National Conference on Youth Violence and Technology: Keeping Our Kids Safe in a Virtual World
The conference will include several national speakers and focus on evidence-based and best practice web-based strategies for preventing online and traditional youth violence. The purposes of the conference are to: 1) reduce youths' risk of becoming victims of electronic aggression while emailing, chatting, blogging, instant messaging, surfing the Internet, or text messaging; 2) foster a greater understanding of this generation of youth and the risks and adverse effects of technology harassment; and 3) study evidence-based and best practice web-based strategies for preventing online and traditional youth violence. Each session will include strategies that parents and professionals can implement in their communities or homes to increase the safety of youth by reducing the risks associated with electronic networking and utilizing online youth violence prevention resources.
