This training examines the barriers to providing effective services to older persons; the roles of victim service providers and allied professionals in recognizing elder abuse and providing services; and the resources available to assist victims of elder abuse. Participants will be able to:
- Identify the signs of elder abuse, understand its impact on victims, and respond proactively to situations in which they suspect elder abuse.
- Name the types of elder abuse and learn ways of obtaining more information, including relevant statutes they may need to respond appropriately when they suspect or identify elder abuse.
- Recognize the risk factors for and indicators of elder abuse among older victims, older persons living with other victims, their own family members, or friends, or other individuals.
- Intervene appropriately.
