VIBS Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center, in collaboration with Stony Brook University Medical Center and the NY State Department of Health, invites Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Physicians Assistants and Medical Doctors to attend the Suffolk County SANE/SAFE Training Program.A new SAFE/SANE training program has been scheduled from February 17-21. It will be held at Stony Brook University Medical Center and is open to those licensed as N.P., R.N., P.A., or M.D. and have at least one year of clinical experience. The program is a 5 day/40 hour comprehensive didactic training. The SAFE/SANE training program meets the guidelines of the International Association of Forensic Nurses and offers its graduates 40 C.E.U.’s. The tuition is $750.00.A Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) is a medical professional who provides compassionate care to adult and adolescent survivors of rape and sexual assault by obtaining medical histories, collecting forensic evidence and offering preventative medications.All interested parties wanting details regarding the informational sessions, may contact Jennifer, SANE liaison at VIBS, at 631-360-3730 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
