Walk in My Shoes 2011 will mark the second annual walk across Florida. Led by Lauren Book and the Lauren's Kids Foundation, the Walk raises awareness about sexual abuse and urges those who have been abused to speak up, because "it's always okay to tell." Book will be accompanied by many other survivors in a walk across the state of Florida, stopping at rape crisis centers and other allied agencies along the way to spread the word about Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Book is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and started Lauren’s Kids to help others who have experienced sexual abuse.
The 39-day, 1,000-mile journey will begin in Key West on Saturday, March 19 and end on Tuesday, April 26 on the steps of the historic Capitol in Tallahassee for the Lauren's Kids Rally in Tally at noon. The Rally includes the final mile, Lauren's call to action and memories from the Walk, and statements from state and local leaders.
