(CNN) -- The number of service members anonymously reporting a sexual assault grew by more than 30% in the past two years, according to a Pentagon report released Tuesday.

The Defense Department estimated that more than 26,000 troops experienced an episode of "unwanted sexual contact," a huge jump from the 19,300 figure in the 2010 report.

ATTORNEY-GENERAL Mark Dreyfus will discuss the difficulty of prosecuting crimes of sexual violence against women and children when he meets with foreign counterparts in New Zealand.

Mr Dreyfus will travel to Auckland for an annual meeting with the attorneys-general of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and New Zealand.

The meetings aim to share experience and knowledge around complex cross-border issues, and explore how to tackle the challenges that globalisation poses to law enforcement and courts.

For the purpose of a video report on sexual harassment in Egypt, 24-year-old actor Waleed Hammad dressed as a woman to experience the assaults firsthand.

Hammad, who studied Economics and Theatre at the American University in Cairo, told Aswat Masriya on Monday that he blames neither men nor women for sexual harassment, but society as a whole.

(CNN) -- The longtime head football coach of Steubenville High School landed a contract extension this week, despite the rape controversy that gripped the small Ohio town and the nation.

Reno Saccoccia was granted a two-year extension by the local school board, Steubenville Superintendent Michael McVey said Monday.

The decision comes about a month after two star Steubenville High School football players were convicted for sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl.

Occidental College has hired two former sex crimes prosecutors to complete an extensive review of the university’s handling of sex abuse cases amid allegations that officials don’t take such cases seriously.

The university announced the review Thursday, when a group of Occidental College students, faculty and alumni filed a civil rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Education alleging that the school failed to protect women from sexual assaults.

NEW DELHI — The police arrested a second suspect in the rape and torture of a 5-year-old girl on Monday and announced that the number of reported rapes in New Delhi had more than doubled since December, while molesting cases had risen sixfold.

A five-year-old girl is battling for her life after being allegedly kidnapped and repeatedly raped by a neighbour in the Indian capital, Delhi.

The girl was taken hostage on Monday and attacked in a locked room for over 48 hours, police said.

Reports say she was rescued by a passer-by who heard her cries on Wednesday. No arrests have been made.

The gang rape and murder of a student on a Delhi bus in December sparked protests across India.

The L.A. Board of Education will weigh a proposal Tuesday designed to speed up and improve investigations of teachers accused of sexual misconduct.


The point is to quickly oust the guilty and exonerate the innocent after sexual misconduct allegations at Miramonte Elementary School sparked a surge of investigations and pushed the ranks of those in "teacher jail" to more than 300.

"You don't need 300 days to figure out who's a monster," said Carpenter Elementary parent Julia Bricklin.
