The Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ICASA), a nonprofit organization, is seeking a General Counsel to provide legal assistance, training and public policy advocacy to a statewide network of 29 community-based rape crisis and prevention centers. The General Counsel provides relevant legal resources, information and assistance to the rape crisis center advocates throughout Illinois, develops legal resources for the rape crisis centers to assist their daily work serving victims and advises the coalition on non-profit governance issues. The General Counsel provides technical assistance and training to the rape crisis centers and to allied professionals, including medical personnel, law enforcement and prosecutors. The General Counsel plays a key leadership role in the development and implementation of public policy affecting sexual assault victims and rape crisis centers. The General Counsel participates in strategic decision-making that promotes ICASA’s role as a leader in the anti-rape movement to end sexual violence and foster support and recovery to survivors. The General Counsel works closely with a staff of 14 to insure the sustainability of the Illinois rape crisis centers in an environment that promotes inclusion and respect.
