JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting the Director with the coordination and implementation of the Safe Environment Program.  The goal for the Safe Environment Program is to better equip the faithful of the diocese to prevent, identify, and respond to the sexual abuse of minors, making all parishes and Catholic schools safe now and in the future. 

 

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Establish and maintain relationships with parishes, schools and other stakeholders
  • Provide assistance to parishes, schools and archdiocesan entities with implementation of Safe Environment policies
  • Conduct training as needed regarding child abuse prevention, Archdiocesan policies and other related issues
  • Gather data and maintain accurate records of activities and develop/complete reports
  • Maintain confidential information
  • Assist with program evaluation
  • Establish and maintain involvement with relevant community and professional organizations
  • Monitor program implementation
  • Assist with auditing of parishes, schools and other entities to ensure compliance with policies
  • Promote the office through community presentations and meetings
  • Perform administrative tasks
  • Assist with the general functioning of the office  
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions for program improvement
  • Travel within the five counties of the Archdiocese is required, must have valid driver’s license and access to a car
Qualifications: 
• Bachelor’s Degree required in human service or related field • Experience with child physical and sexual abuse related issues and prevention • Must have an understanding of the Catholic Church and be willing to respect, understand and promote it’s mission, values, and goals • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are critical • Ability to analyze problems and develop plan of action/correction. • Ability to organize work, multi- task, and consistently meet deadlines. • Ability to address crisis situations which require prompt decision and action • Ability to perform job duties with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parishes/schools employees, volunteers, and the general public • Must be computer literate with strong skills in Word, Excel and Outlook • Demonstrates flexibility to assist with other office tasks as assigned • Position is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks.
