
The Office of Clinical and Preventive Services (OCPS), Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) provides national advocacy, policy and program development, and administrative oversight for national behavioral health initiatives. The position will report to the Director, DBH and provides national leadership for the AI/AN SANE/SART program including: national advocacy for increased access to sexual assault prevention and treatment services; national sexual assault program management functions, including quality improvement and determination of public health and clinical services training needs; policy development/revision, implementation, and monitoring; and collaboration on interagency efforts aimed at improving the capacity and effectiveness of sexual assault response and treatment. Duties include:
- Manages the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Sexual Assault Response Team (SANE-SART) Initiative, which enhances the capacity of the Indian health system to provide high-quality multidisciplinary services and support for victims of sexual assault, provides expertise to determine public health and clinical service training needs of the program, and prepares reports or other substantive program documentation for use in assessing and evaluating program operations.
- Develops and revises sexual assault-related policies based on federal, Tribal, and stakeholder feedback; serves as primary coordinator for sexual assault policy implementation and monitoring; plans, directs and facilitates meetings and conference calls to promote interagency collaboration in improving the capacity and effectiveness of the Indian health system to respond to sexual assault.
-Provides technical expertise on improving sexual assault-related health information systems and related modes of data collection; collects data, conducts initial data analysis, and provides oral and written technical reports and briefings for supervisors and senior management; provides technical assistance and consultation on grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and other awards to assist in meeting agency objectives.
- Collaborates with multiple federal agencies, i.e. IHS, DOJ, BIA, others, to assure that resources are aligned to support SANE-SART efforts, including training, targeted technical assistance, and development of comprehensive demonstration projects.
