Collaborating Partners

The NSVRC works with the following national healthcare provider associations that have been funded by the CDC to expand their leadership role in addressing sexual violence prevention. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College Health Association, and the International Association of Forensic Nurses are funded to create educational and support materials that will foster the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for their members to address sexual violence prevention in their practices and communities.

The American College Health Association has 2,700 members and 900 member institutions. They have created a Position Statement for Sexual Violence prevention: Preventing Sexual Violence on College and University Campuses. (www.acha.org).


Shifting the Paradigm: Primary Prevention of Sexual Violence
Toolkit provides facts, ideas, strategies, conversation starters, and resources for everyone on campus who cares about the prevention of sexual violence.  The emphasis of this Toolkit is to encourage prevention activities that take place before sexual violence has occurred and which create social change and shift the norms regarding sexual violence.

The International Association of Forensic Nurses, which has 3,000 members, is creating a Primary Prevention of Sexual Violence course on-line for continuing education credits. The American Academy of Pediatrics with over 65,000 members and 66 regionally-based centers has written an article entitled Social History Can Identify Youths at Risk of Sexual Violence that will be distributed to members and partners during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. They also offer a toolkit that include an intake questionnaire and an office poster to facilitate discussions with patients during office visits. (www.aap.org)
