This handbook was designed by NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund to help employers effectively address the issue of violence against women with creative and inexpensive solutions. This second, updated edition of the 1996 guide explains the pertinent legal issues, and suggests ways employers can develop strategies for dealing with violence-related issues that fit their needs, and those of their employees. This guide identifies six key components of child sexual abuse prevention for organizations. It includes prevention goals and critical strategies for each component. Suggestions for addressing challenges and tools to help organizations get started are also provided.
This document has been formatted so that families, community groups, and schools can use each section as a separate handout or use them all together as one complete document. Prevention tips and resources are provided to help children and youth of different ages or stages of development. The document is organized into four sections: Background Information; The “Basics” of Sexual Violence; Types of Sexual Violence; and Who Can Help: Websites and Resources for Families.
