What is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)?
SAAM, observed in April, is the month dedicated to making a concerted effort to raise awareness about and prevent sexual violence through special events (although such activities may occur at any time). Since the first national observation of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in 2001, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) has provided resources to advocates nationwide to help them plan SAAM activities in their communities during April and throughout the year.

Additionally, the NSVRC supports and encourages state coalitions in the development of strategies, initiatives, and customized materials to support local SAAM projects. As always, we encourage you to contact your state, territory, or tribal sexual assault coalition for information, activities, and event coordination. Coalition contact information may be obtained online by visiting www.nsvrc.org and clicking on the “Organizations” link.
