The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) will host a reception featuring the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Bandana Project” during April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The event, scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm, is open to the public and will be held at 123 N. Enola Drive, Enola, PA.

Invited speakers include Commissioner Stuart J. Ishimaru of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Remigia Sandoval of Survivors of Adams County.

The “Bandana Project” raises awareness of sexual violence and harassment against farmworker women. The project was launched by Esperanza: The Immigrant Women’s Legal Initiative of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). The Southern Poverty Law Center is a nonprofit civil rights organization that combats bigotry and discrimination through litigation, education and advocacy. For more information, visit

The focus of the second annual Intersections training is to enhance local collaboration between victims, victim advocates, prosecutors and allied professionals to provide a comprehensive response to stalking. Conducting the training, along with state and local experts, will be the National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC) Stalking Resource Center and SafetyNet, a program of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. The training will highlight stalking and the use of technology in domestic and sexual violence, as well as stalking and bullying. An essential part of this training will be an opportunity for participants to learn about cutting edge forms of technology used by perpetrators, a key part of keeping victims safe and for proving a stalking case in a court of law. The agenda will provide a mixture of plenary and breakout sessions.

Topic will include:
• Overviews of stalking and technology
• Threat assessment and safety planning
• Examination of Spyware, GPS systems, cameras, information brokers, and social networking (Email IP)
• A Survivor’s story
• Police investigation including technology evidence collection
• PA laws
• Prosecution including charging strategies
• Resources for victims including civil remedies, support services, advocacy, and advanced safety planning
• Teen stalking
• Disabilities and assistive technologies

This program will offer approximately 18.25 training hours, as well as CLR credits.
This training program is brought to you through a collaboration of Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency (PCCD) Training & Networking Project, Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute (PDAI), Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV), Coalition of Pennsylvania Crime Victim Organizations (COPCVO), Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR) and the Office of the Victim Advocate (OVA).
