Boost your skills, earn CEs, and increase your connections at the 4th Annual Sexuality, Intimacy & Aging Conference, Sept. 19-20, 2014 at Widener University, Chester, PA. This year, we’re welcoming professionals, paraprofessionals, students and consumers. The addition of consumers is a response to the many inquiries we receive about sexuality education for older adults.The Friday program will feature morning plenaries from nationally renowned experts in sexuality and aging, followed by a student research poster session, afternoon workshops, and an evening networking reception.This 2014 theme is “Difference through Diversity,” and we’re taking full advantage of it, welcoming Friday afternoon workshops on a range of topics related to sexuality, intimacy, and older adults.The Saturday program will focus on sexuality, health and medical issues affecting adults in mid- and older age. We welcome proposals for both workshops and lectures.

This cross-disciplinary conference will provide an in-depth focus on prevention, response, and coping with violence and trauma in the context of families, schools, medical settings, workplace, and in the military. For each of the four days of training, breakout sessions will include panels focused on both research and skill-building. The event will focus on how faith communities can work together to combat human trafficking and support victims. Workshops will be offered 9-11am and 1-3pm. Presenters Bethany Woodcock of Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY), Kim Stoltzfus of the North Star Initiative and Lynn Kolb of Transport for Christ/Exit 58 will discuss a victim's experience and ways to help; restoration and after care for victims; and pornography, prostitution and consumer demand. Victims Resource Center, in cooperation with Wilkes University and King's College will host its annual Take Back the Night March and Rally. March starts at 5:30 p.m. at Wilkes University and King's College. Rally at 6 p.m. at Victims Resource Center, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. Open to the public.

Penn State’s third annual Conference on Child Protection and Well-Being is scheduled for May 5-6, 2014 at the Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus. The conference will focus on the role of parenting and family processes in child maltreatment and intervention.
