Description:

Did you know that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month? In recognition of SAAM, GroundZero of Spartanburg, a favorite local hangout since 1996, will be hosting a benefit concert for SAFE Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition, on April 15, 2011 at 7pm. Come out and enjoy a night of great local music, bring along a friend or meet a new one, and enjoy a low cover charge. Music provided by local artists Quarterfly, Coma Cinema, Din of Thieves, and more. SAFE Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition is a non-profit organization located in the heart of downtown Spartanburg that provides supportive services and emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Currently, they operate the largest shelter in South Carolina and serve victims from Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union Counties. Just within the past year, SAFE Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition has assisted 478 victims of sexual assault, and 23% of these were children under age seventeen. Increasing awareness of these issues will help create a climate in our community where victims feel supported enough to disclose the abuse, leave an unsafe environment, and get help necessary to recover. Please come out and show your support. GroundZero will be accepting donations for SAFE Home-Rape Crisis Coalition at the door the night of the event, as well as throughout the month of April.

If you are a band and would like to jump on board, contact GroundZero at 864-948-1661 or email them at gzsc@aol.com. If you have any concerns, questions, would like to donate your time and effort, or just need someone to talk to, please contact SAFE Homes-Rape Crisis 24-hours a day at 864-583-9803. More information is avaliable online.   LIKE SHRCC Spartanburg on Facebook. See you on April 15th!!!
