The AACJP Conference will include four main tracks of research and practice.
All-day pre-conference trainings will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, May 31 – June 1, 2008. Conference workshops begin Monday, June 2 and conclude Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
Offender Treatment: Risk and Needs Assessments, Batterer’s Treatment; Sex Offenders; Female Offenders; Victim Offenders, Juvenile Offenders and Substance Abuse.
Re-Entry: Successful In-Jail Programs, Pre And Post Release Programming For Juveniles And Adults, Alternatives To Current Sentencing Systems, And Community Justice.
Family Violence and Chaotic Households: Short and Longer Term Impact on Adult Victims and their Children With Special Emphasis On Successful Interventions
Victim Empowerment: Evidence Based Interventions For Domestic Violence Victims In General And In Specialized Population Groups: Older Victims, Battered Immigrant Victims, Black And Ethnic Populations Including Lethality And Risk Assessments
Training and workshop scheduling:
PRE-CONFERENCE: 15 pre-conference trainings with the option of one or two full day trainings on Saturday May 31, 2008 and/or Sunday June 1, 2008.
CONFERENCE: A total of sixty, 90 minute workshops commencing on Monday, June 2, 2008 and concluding Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.
