Description:

About the Conference
This is a one day advocacy based conference designed to engage and inform communities of color about sexual assault, how it looks in those communities and what strategies we can use to address and prevent it. This year we are bringing a more global perspective to the issue and while still geared towards prevention we will be painting a truer picture of what sexual violence looks like around the world; and how, on a local level, women of color are being disproportionately affected.

Reflection on ‘Eastern’ based cultures/communities will be highlighted during the conference with speakers who represent Arab, Southeast Asian and Asian communities discussing the issue of violence against women generally and sexual violence in specific.

Conference Topics Include
Prevention vs. Risk Reduction * The Intersection of Racism and Sexual Violence * Human Trafficking * Honor Killings * Women’s Rights & Human Rights * Gender Parity * Violence in Muslim Communities * Strategies for Engaging Men in Our Communities and More.
