Strengthening Military-Civilian Community Partnerships To Respond to Sexual Assault is an interactive training that helps participants establish partnerships with local military installations in order to effectively respond to the needs of sexual assault victims in the military.  Throughout this training, participants will build systems knowledge about military systems, protocols, and culture to improve service provision to military sexual assault victims and to develop an appreciation of the perspectives of their future collaborative partners. Training participants will gain information and skills related to:• On-installation resources, including the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC), the military's single point of contact for matters related to sexual assault prevention and response and the military victim advocate.• Building successful collaborations, including the importance of writing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between their community-based program and local military installations to define roles, formalize agreements, and guarantee the longevity and continuity of such agreements.With the knowledge gained through this training process, in combination with their existing expertise in responding to sexual assault, participants will be able to serve as knowledgeable resources to military installations throughout the United States.WCSAP has funding available for participants from Member Programs to attend this training.  For any questions or more information you can email Leah Holland or call (360) 754-7583.

Additional Information: A week-long Child Forensic Interview Clinic that provides an unparalleled intensive training opportunity for professionals responsible for investigative interviews with children in suspected abuse cases. Appropriate for those just beginning as well as those with some experience. The APSAC Clinics present a balanced review of several prominent interview models and bring some of the most well-known national experts together to teach and facilitate practice interviews which are critiqued and videotaped. The Clinic culminates with a Mock Court experience for attendees.

This 23 hour training will satisfy the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy Core Training requirements for therapists treating victims of sexual assault/abuse. This training is broken into 2 parts: Part 1 requires that you complete a 6 hour online training course. By submitting registration and being accepted into this training, you will receive a username and password allowing you to login to the online course on August 27th. The online portion must be completed by 5pm on September 14th. Following this online training is a 17 hour in-person training at the Red Lion Hotel Olympia from September 17 - 19, 2012. This training is availble to licensed mental health counselors only.

Participants should only sign up if they commit to attending both the TF-CBT training and telephone case consultations. The Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training and consultation is provided by Claudia Kirkland of Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress. The goal of this Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) components-based training and consultation is to teach the basic principles of effective trauma therapy with children and their families, and promote the consistent use of interventions that work for the variety of conditions and concerns of traumatized children/families seeking treatment.
