- Effective advocacy for trafficking survivors
- Legal options – T Visa, U Visa and Violence Against Women Act
- Creative interviewing techniques
- Safety planning
- ultural competency Innovative approaches to collaboration
This will be done in a variety of ways:
- Interactive and innovative educational sessions
- Cross-professional sessions on building collaborations
- Case analysis and application
- National experts and trainers working in the anti-trafficking field
Who may attend? Participants are highly encouraged to come with individuals from organizations in their communities ("teams" of 2-3 people) which can include, but not limited to, attorneys, legal advocates, faith based providers, counselors, law enforcement, immigration community service providers, and judges.
OVW grantees under the Legal Assistance for Victims, Rural, and Arrest grant programs can use their OVW travel funds to send grant funded staff and partners to this training. Other OVW grantees interested in attending this training should contact their OVW Program Specialist for prior approval.
Additionally, you are also encouraged to invite non-OVW funded partners to register for this training as part of your team. Please note that your non-OVW funded partners will be responsible for their own travel expenses.
Costs
The education program is provided free of charge. Please note that participants are responsible for their own lodging, travel arrangements, and costs associated with attending the program. Accommodations are available at the program rate of $149 plus 15% tax per night.
