I was really excited when my coworker sent me our newest resource to read – the Social Determinants of Health Annotated Bibliography. Then I started reading it, and… Can I be honest with you? I felt overwhelmed.

There are many women we celebrate during the month of March, as the country as a whole recognizes Women’s History Month. There are so many fabulous stories held within the Respect Together Libraries highlighting brave and courageous women who have made our lives better through the sacrifices they’ve made. This month, I want to share three inspirational children’s books. These books highlight three different women who, through stories of triumph of their own, have made it possible for other generations to have a more enriching life because of their blood, sweat, and tears.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). This February marks the 10th year of TDVAM, and this year’s themes are “Outrage into Action,” and “#1Thing.” The Outrage into Action campaign calls for change and focuses on what young people can do to create change and raise awareness. The #1Thing campaign is designed to meet teens where they are by encouraging young people to learn one thing about teen dating violence and healthy relationships and share that knowledge with a friend.

For most of us, human trafficking conjures images of young women being kidnapped by traffickers like in the movie Taken. While people are kidnapped and trafficked in this way, it is not even close to the most common forms of trafficking occurring on a daily basis. Do you have 10 minutes? My January has been full of so many 10-minute conversations in an attempt to figure out how to accomplish #allthethings I want to accomplish this year. Many of these conversations have been about how to measure stuff. I lucked out when Rose Hennessy, from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, gave me 10 minutes to talk about measuring bystander intervention.
