According to census data, about 13.7% (139,520 people) exclusively speak a language other than English at home. 5.4% of people (51,000 people) are Limited English Proficiency (LEP). About 1.4% (8,318 people) are classified as having a hearing disability According to the CDC, more than 19,000 people identify as being blind or having a severe difficulty seeing even with glasses. 11.6% of the population lives below the poverty level and 10.7% of adults are classified as illiterate.
