According to census data, about 14.3% (1,560,541 people) exclusively speak a language other than English at home. 5.2% of people (529,000 people) are Limited English Proficiency (LEP). About 2.1% (131,620 people) are classified as having a hearing disability According to the CDC, more than 255,000 people identify as being blind or having a severe difficulty seeing even with glasses. 14% of the population lives below the poverty level and 16.7% of adults are classified as illiterate.
