Victims’ Assistance Legal Organization, Inc. (VALOR)

About this Organization

The Victims’ Assistance Legal Organization (VALOR) was founded in 1979 as a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the legal rights of crime victims in the civil, criminal, and juvenile justice systems. VALOR has provided leadership on research and reform in the areas of restitution, child abuse, juvenile justice, sentencing, and parole, and has served, since 1995, as the lead grantee for the OVC-funded and sponsored project, the National Victim Assistance Academy.

Urban Institute

About this Organization

The Urban Institute conducts research, program evaluation, and policy analysis on a broad range of social, economic and governance issues. These issues range from education and health care policy to criminal justice and housing. Its research on sexual violence focuses on services to victims of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, and sexual assault; civil, criminal and family courts; child protection agencies, and community-based treatment providers. Sexual Assault Training & Investigations (SATI)

About this Organization

Sexual Assault Training & Investigations (SATI) provides effective, victim centered, multi-disciplinary training and expert consultation regarding crimes of sexual assault. SATI goals are to: provide cross training for all disciplines with an emphasis on the law enforcement investigation and proper police responses; counter crimes of sexual assault by ensuring a coordinated, competent, and effective response by all members of a Sexual Assault Response Team and other community stake holders to hold sex offenders accountable; and increase reporting of sexual assault by providing responders with information that will give them the ability to effectively respond to all forms of sexual assault.
