Why is teal the color of sexual assault awareness and prevention?
In 2000, the Resource Sharing Project (RSP) and NSVRC polled state, territory, and tribal anti-sexual violence coalitions to see which color they preferred to represent sexual violence awareness and prevention. Most coalitions responded by saying they preferred the color teal. Since then the teal ribbon has been used to represent sexual violence awareness and prevention and you will see the teal ribbon used most prevalently during April which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
