Prevention

This episode is a conversation with Kelly Mays and Sara McGirr about the process used and findings from an equity focused sexual assault community assessment process in Michigan. 

The COVID-19 pandemic deeply impacted and continues to impact our communities. In order to meet the needs of the changing landscape of learning, many curricula and interventions have provided virtual adaptation guidance and resources to their implementers. In addition to consulting the guidance below, implementers are encouraged to contact their funder and use guidance outlined by the CDC's Veto Violence Select, Adapt, Evaluate tool. 

This interactive learning tool explores primary prevention through a series of activities. Information covered includes the history of moving upstream, the Socio-Ecological Model, and exploring the differences between risk reduction and primary prevention.

Using the public health framework to develop and guide prevention efforts to prevent the perpetration of child sexual abuse, this research translation highlights several programs that focus on preventing the onset of abusive behaviors as a necessary component to an overall prevention plan.
