Every once in a while, a resource we release makes a big splash – and that was the case with our Risk and Protective Factors Infographic. It was intended to be an online-only resource, but we quickly realized we needed to make print copies available to keep up with all the requests. Why was it so popular? Well, a lot of reasons, I think - we created it with a lot of community input, had a great designer, and we linked together some important aspects of our work in a way that is easy to understand.
This infographic shows the connections between risk and protective factors, social determinants

I was really excited when my coworker sent me our newest resource to read – the Social Determinants of Health Annotated Bibliography. Then I started reading it, and… Can I be honest with you? I felt overwhelmed.
I feel like it’s a tricky balance for anyone doing this work – we want to be informed of all the latest research and findings about how to prevent sexual harassment, assault, and abuse and create healthy communities. But it can be just plain hard (if not triggering) to dig into all of the information that details how people are being hurt – not just by other people, but by

There are many women we celebrate during the month of March, as the country as a whole recognizes Women’s History Month. There are so many fabulous stories held within the Respect Together Libraries highlighting brave and courageous women who have made our lives better through the sacrifices they’ve made. This month, I want to share three inspirational children’s books. These books highlight three different women who, through stories of triumph of their own, have made it possible for other generations to have a more enriching life because of their blood, sweat, and tears.

Some of the greatest inventions have come from Black or African American culture and figures. It is an honor to share with you a few of the fabulous resources the Respect Together Libraries have in their collections highlighting some of the most influential African Americans of our time. February is set aside as Black History Month, but it is my hope that we remember these leaders far beyond February and throughout the year.

It’s that time of year when pink and red hearts line the aisles of every shop in sight and the aroma of flowers fills the air. For most, that means a celebration of love, from long-stemmed roses to showering loved ones with candy and fine jewelry. While we hear about relationships beginning and being celebrated, we don’t usually hear about the ending.
In addition to Valentine's Day, February also marks Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month — a time to focus on how teens can foster healthier attitudes around dating. One skill we could all benefit from is working on is how to end

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). This February marks the 10th year of TDVAM, and this year’s themes are “Outrage into Action,” and “#1Thing.” The Outrage into Action campaign calls for change and focuses on what young people can do to create change and raise awareness. The #1Thing campaign is designed to meet teens where they are by encouraging young people to learn one thing about teen dating violence and healthy relationships and share that knowledge with a friend.
Teen dating violence includes physical, emotional, sexual, or digital abuse in a current dating

For most of us, human trafficking conjures images of young women being kidnapped by traffickers like in the movie Taken. While people are kidnapped and trafficked in this way, it is not even close to the most common forms of trafficking occurring on a daily basis. There are at least 25 types of human trafficking occurring in the United States, and most of them are hidden in plain sight, invisible if you’re looking for violent, Taken-style exploitation.
For example, the girls who met R. Kelly with stars in their eyes and

This month is the 16th annual National Stalking Awareness Month. The month of January is dedicated to raising awareness of stalking and understanding what we can do to recognize and combat this serious issue.
We’ve compiled some helpful information and resources on what this month is all about. Let’s jump in!
What is Stalking?
Stalking is a form of harassment where a pattern of behaviors are directed at a specific person that causes them to feel scared and unsafe. Stalking behaviors can include unwanted contact (repeated calls, texts, or emails), physically following someone, sending unwanted

Do you have 10 minutes? My January has been full of so many 10-minute conversations in an attempt to figure out how to accomplish #allthethings I want to accomplish this year. Many of these conversations have been about how to measure stuff. I lucked out when Rose Hennessy, from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, gave me 10 minutes to talk about measuring bystander intervention.
Lots of questions circled in our heads, but the following questions bubbled to the top:
Are you measuring intentions or actual behaviors?
Are you asking people if they ALWAYS intervene to stop abuse and
