This fact sheet is part of the National Sexual Assault Demonstration Initiative Toolkit on community assessment approaches to support the growth of sexual assault services within multi-service programs. The purpose of this guide is to assist physicians, nurses, and other clinical health care providers in meeting their professional obligations in identifying and providing intervention and treatment to older victims of sexual violence. NSVRC in collaboration with the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence, the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, and International Association of Forensic Nurses have developed this joint statement recommending that systems be established to ensure that survivors of sexual assault have universal access to medications to prevent HIV following rape.
